Ballhockey.com Ratings

Privacy

What this site collects, why, who can see it, and how to get a rating corrected or removed.

Last updated October 22, 2026

In short: the ratings list player names, teams and the events they played. If you send an appeal, we keep your name, email, optional phone number and message so staff can review it and reply. Only Ballhockey.com staff see your contact details. We don't sell anything, show ads, or use tracking cookies. We count visits anonymously, without cookies, to see how the site is used. Players can add a photo of themselves; staff check it against their ID, and the ID is deleted as soon as they decide.

Who runs this site

ballhockeyratings.com is run by Ballhockey.com to rate players for Ballhockey.com tournaments. Questions about this page or your information go to curtis@ballhockey.com.

Player ratings

For each rating entry the site shows the player's name, the team, the event, the rating earned there, and whether they played goalie. This comes from the rosters and results of the qualifying events listed on the About page. It's published so captains and organizers can check division eligibility.

Entries roll off the database when their event expires (the expiry date is shown on each player's profile). Removed entries are kept privately for the staff record so they can be restored if removed by mistake.

Getting a rating corrected or removed

Open the player's profile and choose Appeal this rating, for example if you didn't play in an event, the rating is wrong, it's a different person with the same name, or the name is misspelled. You can also email curtis@ballhockey.com.

Appeals

When you send an appeal we keep:

We use this to review the appeal and reply to you. Staff can add internal notes and update its status. Only Ballhockey.com ratings staff, who sign in to a private staff panel, can see appeals. When an appeal is sent, staff get an email about it, and you may get a confirmation email with your reference number.

Appeals are kept as part of the ratings record so decisions stay consistent. To have your contact details removed from an appeal, email curtis@ballhockey.com with your reference number.

Player photos

Players who are 18 or older can add a photo of themselves from their profile. It shows on their profile, their player page, in search results and in link previews when someone shares their page. Photos are only ever added by the player, never by staff or anyone else.

When you send a photo we keep:

Your ID photo is deleted as soon as staff approve or decline your photo. If nobody reviews it within 30 days, the request, the photo and the ID are all deleted automatically. The ID is never published, emailed or shared, and only Ballhockey.com ratings staff, who sign in to a private staff panel, can see it. If your photo is declined, it's deleted too.

When staff approve your photo, they also note privately that your ID was checked: who checked it and when. Nothing from the ID itself is kept. Staff can make the same note after checking your ID in person at a tournament. Verified players show a small ID verified badge next to their name on the site, which helps captains and tournament check-in. Only the badge is public: who checked your ID, when and how is seen only by staff. The badge stays if your photo is later removed. Email curtis@ballhockey.com to have it removed.

Once approved, your photo is public. Location and camera details are removed from it before it's published. To have it taken down, open your profile and choose Ask to remove this photo, or email curtis@ballhockey.com. A removed photo stops showing on the site within a few minutes and is deleted.

Visitor statistics

To see how the site is used, we keep simple anonymous counts. No cookies are used and nothing is saved on your device for this. When you leave or switch away from a page, your browser sends a short summary of that visit:

To count unique visitors without tracking anyone, each visit gets a scrambled code made from your internet connection and browser type, mixed with a secret that changes every day. The code can't be turned back into your IP address, and because the secret changes daily, visits on different days can't be linked. Your IP address and full browser details aren't stored.

A couple of days after each day ends, that day's visits are added into daily totals and the individual visit summaries are deleted. Only the site administrator can see the totals. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, nothing is counted. Search engines and other automated visitors aren't counted either.

What's stored on your device

The site doesn't use cookies for visitors and has no ads or tracking cookies. It saves a few things in your own browser, which never leave your device:

Clearing your browser's site data removes them. Staff who sign in to the staff panel get one sign-in cookie, which lasts up to 12 hours.

Services we use

We don't share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.
